MapPoint 2010 is a mapping programme that allows users to easily integrate maps into their work. By importing or linking information from Excel, Access, Outlook, or any SQL Server database to a MapPoint-based map, users can depict client bases and trends. Customised maps can be inserted into Word documents and PowerPoint presentations. Maps include 400,000 points of interest, such as city halls, restaurants, and ATMs.
Mobile workers can access maps, driving directions, and point-of-interest information even when offline. Features for mobile workers include updated geographic data and a Global Positioning System (GPS) task pane that uses information from connected, compatible GPS devices to display current location, speed, and traveling direction. Position information is available through either a connected GPS device or the Location Finder, which accesses a database of known WiFi access points to determine a user's location (see the System Requirements for necessary hardware).
MapPoint 2010 Europe includes detailed street-level maps and address-finding capability for Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. It provides some street-level coverage but does not find addresses in Andorra, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Gibraltar, Guernsey, Hungary, Ireland, Isle of Man, Jersey, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Monaco, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Vatican City
• The Import/Link Data wizard helps users import or link information from Excel, Access, and Outlook to a MapPoint-based map.
• Maps of Austria, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom contain demographic data such as household income and population age and gender.
• When GPS functionality is in use, routes can be displayed as a 3D perspective map.
• Point-of-interest and address information can be sent to mobile devices.
Note: These system requirements are based on the requirements for MapPoint 2010 North America. Official system requirements for MapPoint 2010 Europe were not available when Microsoft Donation PROGRAMME added this product to our catalogue.
